Antique Barn Renovation
Bow Barn Restoration.
Barn Transformed.
The cow milking barn, built in 1901, stands as one of the oldest structures in Bow. For many years, it was the only building amidst vast acres of land, even before homes were constructed in the area. When we took on this project, the barn was in a state of serious disrepair. The exterior walls were leaning, which created significant air gaps, allowing nature to infiltrate the structure. This leaning wall had caused cracks that led to water damage over the decades, resulting in the nearly complete deterioration of the framing and sheathing on the south and east sides. Barn swallow nests filled every corner, accompanied by years of accumulated droppings. Rodents were rampant, causing damage and leaving holes and feces throughout the barn. Old, petrified cow dung clung to the posts where the previous cattle stanchions still remained. This was not a project for the faint-hearted, but these are the kinds of challenges that excite me. I was so inspired that I even wrote a blog post about it.
